A few customers have asked about the design we use when constructing
our products. For those that are interested, we’ll briefly
describe the construction techniques and materials used.
Our design is a modular blend of European and North American cabinet
construction methods. The final product, once installed, gives
you a traditional face frame cabinet with the functionality of
the European style. We have included all the benefits of European
cabinetry in a Traditional North American style cabinet.
European cabinetry depends in part on the high quality European
door hinge and its ability to adjust in three directions. The
quality of this hinge allows for very accurate placement of the
cabinet doors because of the hinge's mechanical ability to hold
that placement. The high quality of this hinge is the reason for
its use in this cabinet design.
The carcass, or body, of our standard cabinets (both uppers and
bases) are built with Solid 3/4" panels instead of the standard
1/2” or 5/8”. Unlike many other cabinets, there is
a back panel. The back feature alone, results in a cabinet that
is of higher quality than most on the market today. Base and Upper
cabinet backing reinforcement allows easier installation, and
eliminates the need to paint the walls inside and behind the cabinets.
It also makes each cabinet a free standing, strong, high quality
component.
Modifications or special material can be substituted when the
need arises. These include using finished 3/4" wood veneer
plywood for microwave, pantry, or glass doors as well as other
special situations. Our design is so flexible that almost all
special situations can be addressed with only very minor changes.
The face frame material hardwood, normally oak, cherry, or maple.
The stiles (being the vertical members of the face frame) are
3/4" thick by 1 9/16" wide. The bottom rails (being
the bottom horizontal pieces of the face frame) are 3/4"
thick by 1 9/16" wide and 3 1/8" shorter than the width
of the standard cabinet design. The top rails (being the top horizontal
pieces of the face frame) are 3/4” thick and are normally
4” wide. Although certain occasions call for special sized
stiles or rails, (such as needing more room for refrigerator door
swing), we usually try to stay with these standard sizes.
Cabinet door height is variable, particularly in the base units,
as overall door height is dependant on whether or not a drawer
assembly will be fitted above the door(s) in the cabinets. Special
size cabinets, such as those used over the stove, refrigerator,
and sink, need smaller doors to match the reduced cabinet height. Custom kitchen cabinets orange county California.
